This year marks the 20th anniversary of UN4TW movement in New York. The purpose of this movement is to voice the injustice of Taiwan’s exclusion in international organizations such as the United Nations and also to spread the awareness by conducting outreach activities. The 1st generation has passed down the duty to the 2nd generation since last year and the crew in our NY/NJ Chapter has been working so hard to put this movement together hoping to galvanize more support from the younger generation and the mainstream society. The brand new UN4TW website aims to educate and inform young Taiwanese Americans about the movement. You may also find updates on our facebook page.

This year, the UN4TW committee presents you the “Taiwan Week”, a series of promotional events starting from Sept 14th – Sept 21st, with a goal to gather supporter to come out to the rally on Sat, Sept 22nd. Furthermore, if you have time to volunteer for the movement including cheering, gathering petition signature and etc., please fill out this form.

Boston and DC YPGers plan to go to NY to join the movement. Please come out to as many events to show your support. This is one of our biggest event in the East Coast, don’t miss out all the action! Visit un4tw.org for all the details and check out this video for an interesting episode from our rally last year:

Ready to hit the pavement and taste the sweat? Because FAPA-YPG wants you for the 2012 Advocacy Conference!

Last year, we saw another successful democratic presidential election in Taiwan. While Taiwan’s democracy remains robust, it has not received the proper international recognition. For 19 years, Taiwan has continuously sought a United Nations membership, yet for 19 years the United Nations has denied the 23 million Taiwanese their proper representation in this league of nations. So on this 20th anniversary of the “UN for Taiwan” movement, let us unite and make our voice heard!

Join us this year to learn the best kept secret of grassroots advocacy. The focus of this year’s conference will be
outreach. Through outreach activities, you can inform your friends, families, passersby and Congressmen about issues regarding Taiwan. You’ll learn from leading experts why it is critical for Taiwan to have international representation. Then you’ll hear from seasoned FAPA-YPG members share their experience and tips on outreach.

Finally you’ll participate in an intense training to learn how to pitch Taiwan. After the conference, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and the skills to continue spreading the word for Taiwan!

Date: Sat, Aug 25 – Mon, Aug 27
